Struggling with where to go on a baby-moon? Not too close, but not too far. Not too hot (you’re pregnant; hellooooo) but definitely not too cold. Can‘t drink, can’t be too remote, need it to be restful but not boring.
Planning a baby-moon is not an easy task with all the factors to consider, but San Antonio is an AMAZING option for a USA based baby-moon.
San Antonio has so much to do and see and, even better for a pregnant lady, EAT! There were so many fantastic restaurants in and around San Antonio. We stayed close to the riverwalk so that we wouldn’t need to rent a car and we were never bored.
Here are some top restaurants we loved:
Brunch and pastries at the Diners, Drive-ins and Dives recommended restaurant La Panderia. We actually went here twice because it was so good.
The classic San Antonio Riverwalk trademark restaurant with the patio umbrellas Casa Rio.
Tired of Mexican food? Try the pasta at Paesanos Riverwalk.
Some great other places we tried were appetizers at The Republic of Texas, and lunch at the classic Rainforest Cafe.
One of the things we loved about San Antonio was that there was no expectation of pace. There was a perfect mix of tourists and residents. We never felt rushed to go anywhere or do anything. We strolled, we mingled, we rested and we ate. It was incredibly peaceful.
We stayed at the Hilton Palacio Del Rio hotel right on the Riverwalk. The hotel staff was very friendly, and our rooms were very clean, but the real reason to stay here is it’s fantastic location. Highly recommend!
We took it pretty easy during our time in San Antonio as I was just entering the Third trimester with our first Kidd, so I’m sure there’s way more to do than what we actually accomplished but here are some of the fun things I would recommend:
Walking along the edges of the Riverwalk.
A day time and a night time ride on the GO RIO San Antonio River Cruises
A stroll through The Alamo is a must!
Dressing up and eating dessert at the top of the Tower of the Americas. Make sure to make reservations.
Watch the beautiful historic laser show at the San Fernando Cathedral.
A peaceful and introspective visit to the Japanese Tea Garden.
All in all San Antonio was one of our favorite adventures and we definitely have plans to return again one day, but it truly made the best Baby-moon location.
